The Languedoc has long since been one of Sir William Russell Flint's favourite areas for painting.
The light is remarkable in this region of southern France, many of the buildings are from centuries past
giving an historic and atmospheric warm sense of being.
The light and sense of perspective in this large watercolour has been very cleverly executed, and it was probably
for these reasons that the painting was chosen to be displayed in The Royal Academy.
