The Ancient Aquaduct' was published as a calendar print, most of which have now been lost or destroyed.
Maintenon is an areain the Parisian part of France approximately sixty five kilometres south west of Paris.
It is steeped in history from the early thirteenth century.
An enormous and very grand chateau was built there, taking hundreds of years to eventually complete.
During the reign of Louis XIV, and of course, for those who are familiar with a little Versailleshistory... Madame de Maintenon.
In October 1683, some months after the death of the Queen, Maria Theresa of Austria, Madame de Maintenon secretly married Louis XIV.
The aquaduct was constructed by the Marquis de Vauban between 1685 and 1690 in order to transport water from the Eure River to the gardens and fountains at the Château de Versailles.
The signed
prints and paintings of L.S.Lowry have been increasing in value on a regular basis and his work according to recent studies, is now more sought
after and of greater investment value than many modern artists.
